wading boot

Wading boots used for fishing are just not another pair of high priced hiking boots. Good wading boots are constructed with quality workmanship and water resistant materials that will withstand the rugged abuse of river wading. There is a cure that will solve the problem, and it works on newer felt sole bottom boots and old worn out felts bottom boots as well.

If you have a pair if wading boots (old or new), with just plain felt soles try this fix: Find a reputable carpet store in your local area that sells and installs commercial grade water proof carpeting, the type used in offices, restaurants, hotels etc. You will only need a piece 3′x 4′ to make four or five pairs of soles for your wading boots. Next, you will need to purchases Barge waterproof contact cement in the red and yellow can to glue the carpet over the existing felt soles. The 32 oz. can of cement will do 5 or 6 pairs of carpet soles or felt sole replacements and it can be found at most major building supply stores or shoe repair shops. Now using a heavy screwdriver, slip the tip between the felt sole the rubber sole of the boot at the toe end and pry the felt up. Place the wading boot on the carpet and use a black marking pen, making an outline of the sole and mark “R” for right and “L” for left. If your boots have a raised heel, draw a line across the carpet sole for the heel. I use a very sharp filleting knife to carefully cut out the replacement soles about ¼ inch wader than the boot sole. If your boots have the raised heel cut it where the cross line is marked. Now you are ready to apply the carpet to the bottoms of the boots.

Then carefully apply a thick coat of Barge cement over the soles on the boots, making sure that the edges are well coated and allow the cement to become somewhat tacky. If the cement is absorbed into the felt soles apply another coat. Also apply one thick coat of cement to the hard back of the carpet sole replacements, and allow that cement to become tacky. Remove the boots and fold the upper part of the boots down into the boot opening. Use the strapping tape to very tightly wrap the carpet soles to the bottom of each boot. The boot should now almost be completely covered with tightly wrapped strapping tape. I suggest that if you just want to replace the old felts with new felts replacements, this gluing method really works. Good luck, good fishing and wade safely.

Executive Summarize About Fly Casting by Steve F Brown

fly cast

There is an impression, often given by fishermen, that fly casting for beginner is almost impossible. Many people start their fly casting hobby after some time spin fishing and have got used to having a weight on the end of the fishing line that can be cast out. In this case the line plays almost no part in the casting. With the fly fishing cast, the fly has almost no weight so it is the thicker, heavier line itself that is cast.

Since it is the line that we are casting, the matching of the fly fishing rod and the actual line is important or we will not be able to cast the line accurately for any distance. Too many people get hung up on perfecting their fly casting technique but it is only one part of the fly fishing knowledge that a beginner must learn.

Fly Casting - Equipment and Techniques

Executive Summarize About Fly Casting by Michael Russell

As with most forms of fishing you will need to know about the equipment, in particular the rod, reel and line. The fly rod is the means by which to deliver the fly in a cast, the line and is the tension controller after the fish has been hooked. The beginner can master his casting technique without incurring large costs. The lines are also tapered and the various tapers are suitable for varying types of casts, the double tapered line being the most widely used. The weight of the line is the controlling factor when seeking a balanced combination between the rod and line. Which stand for weight and type of line. Rod manufacturers usually indicate which weight line is best suited to each rod, the graphite rod being more versatile than the cane or glass rods. The code DT6F indicates a size 6 double taper, floating line; DT6S a sinking line of the same style and weight.

The fly line is usually quite bulky and brightly colored and to avoid scaring the fish by the splash and the bright color, a leader should be used to separate the line and the fly. This leader is a tapered monofilament line and continues the taper from the line down to the fly. The line is controlled by hand and wound on the reel when not in use. A reel should be of sufficient size to hold a good quantity of line and have a good line guard.

Executive Summarize About Trout Flies by George Richards

Trout Fly

If you are out there fishing for rainbow or brown trout you are fishing for the largest trout you can find. If this is the case then perhaps you should try using a larger fly for your fly fishing expeditions. The larger the trout the more likely it is to want to consume larger meals. Woolly Buggers and large wet flies often have dramatic results when compared to smaller varieties. Yellow is often regarded as a remarkable color when fly fishing that tends to attract fish to strike even while not generally feeding. A little yellow in the tail of your trout flies can also be beneficial against the match the hatch rule. Using a fly that is similar for the most part, but has one striking element such as a small yellow bit in the tail, can really make the difference and coax the fish into choosing your fly over the real flies.

Black ant and black gnat trout flies are also essential fly fishing gear for those aiming for rainbow, brown or brook trout. This type of fly is particularly effective during the summer months when these flies make up the largest proportion of the trout diet. In short, always make sure you have a variety of trout flies to hand.

Fly Fishing with Dry Trout Flies

Executive Summarize About Trout Flies by Steve Turley

There are many types of trout flies; dry flies normally have a high success rate and are favored by fishermen because they are easy to use. Dry flies float atop the water and are meant to imitate adult insects. Probably the most important rule to follow when fly fishing with dry trout flies is to make sure that you do not have drag on your line. You want your fly to lay atop the stream’s water in a natural way; if you have drag, you could cause the fly to float either faster or slower than the current of the stream. You will probably have the most success with using dry flies if you are casting upstream and allowing the fly to float naturally back down to you. Applying a paste dressing to your dry trout flies will help them to float high on the water.

One of fishing styles you should consider to do is Tarpon fishing, because it can be a lot of fun. In fishing, something new to learn always came and one the most can be ideally suited for fishing styles is strategies for fishing tarpon.

May and June are the best months to catch tarpon, almost in most areas. This month also the beginning of the warm water of the Gulf of Mexico and usually the normal times to spawning for tarpon, it is easier for you to catch the fish if they more active. In this season you also can learn what kind of fishing bait tarpon like to eat so you can adjust you bait to catch this fish.

During the spawn time the best menu for tarpon is palolo worm, but tarpon also like mullet, crabs, pinfish and shrimp. With palolo tarpon always lose all control. Setting the hook and know a tarpon bite is really importance.

It is better to pushing your line toward you want than pulling it away from you, because tarpon eat on the move and always rush onto the bait. At this time, don’t set your hook, because when tarpon facing you, it will usually apart from their mouth and make you disappointed without catch. So it is very important to let the tarpon strip your bait till your hand can feel the tarpon shake your pole.

You must make sure you subdue your fish as quickly as possible if the case with any large fish. You need to apply gentle pressure by cupping the spool as you lift up on your rod when the fish slows down at all. You need more than some experience to know the exactly pressure to apply without breaking your line.

Fly Lines

In fly fishing, fly line is always got caught. Some time it easy to free but sometime it very hard. This problem can make you line damage and not good to use. Usually it tangled in a nearby trees or got wrapped around a sharp rock. But sometime your line got shredded by the spool of your fishing reel.

This matter can be make you annoy in the fishing adventure. You can avoid this problem happen to you, if you know some tips to repairing them that have a little torn or scratch at some places. It is better to try and repair the broken line first, because a new one is also so expensive.

If you unchanged and still use this damaged fly line, you will get two main problems. The first problem is the disturbed of your feeling when the damaged section to pass by your fingers. Damaged fly line is also behave oddly because the integrity of the line has lost, this is the secondly.

For non-PVC fly lines you can use an adhesive to rejoin the damaged ends of the core and then coating back together again, this is a simple and straight forward solution you can try.

This temporary fix can be enough to save your line for a few more fishing trips although the fixing may eventually crack and buckle cause of the flexing of the fly line is over time.

1. To create the best result, please also to prepare compound adhesive and gel super glues type.

2. The damaged area must be repair completely, so make sure that the adhesive you apply can cover that.

3. While you are coating the line, make sure the coating must be thin.

4. The great tool for applying the adhesive, you can use a toothpick.

5. Another way, you can use a moistened finger to wipe away.

6. Hold the surfaces together and push the two ends of the lines together after the adhesive has been applied. This will give the glue time to bond perfectly.

In other that your work is not be vain, after you repair the fly line let the line dry perfectly before using it again.

You will need to use a heat shrink tube to cover the damaged part for PVC fly line and this is a little more difficult and complicated.

Applying over heat can be damaging intact the portions of you line and this is the most serious that can go wrong while you are doing the repair, so be careful about this.

The follow are some step you can use to repair your damaged fly line :

Cut the tube about 2.5 cm longer than the damaged part of the fly line you want to repair.

Slide the tube over the damaged area carefully then over a normal light bulb repaired all the league part.

The heat of the bulb is great to use because the heat bulb does not burn your finger or melt your existing coating.

Please be careful to trim of any excess with a small knife after the sleeve have shrink fit the damaged section.

Finally, Smooth off the join. Use a tiny soft piece along the edges to do that.
